Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about Bildy AI tools
General
What is Bildy?
Bildy is a collection of AI tools that run in your browser. You can generate and edit images and videos, play Game of Prompts with friends, build short animated videos in Reels Studio, write and keep documents in Bildy Notes, play interactive stories, and generate a playlist from a mood.
Do I need to create an account?
You can browse Bildy without an account, but credits are only assigned to signed-in users. To use the paid AI actions, sign in and start the 7-day free trial or buy credits on your account.
Is my data private?
Your images stay in your browser and we do not upload them. If you turn on cloud sync, we store them on our servers so you can open them on another device, and you can turn it off again whenever you want. We always store your credit balance and usage history on our servers, so you see the same balance on every device.
What browsers are supported?
Bildy works on all modern browsers including Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge.
Image Editor
How does the AI image editor work?
Upload an image and describe what you want to change using text prompts. The AI will edit your image according to your instructions - remove backgrounds, change colors, adjust lighting, add or remove objects, and more. Each edit costs around 112 credits on the default model, which is about 11 cents. The exact number shows before you spend it.
What is Artist Mode and how do I use it? (Step-by-step)
Artist Mode lets you edit images using voice control - perfect for when your hands are busy or you want to work faster. Step 1: Upload your image first. Step 2: Click the purple microphone icon in the bottom-right corner. Step 3: Click "Start Recording" - you'll see a pulsing indicator showing it's listening. Step 4: Speak naturally and describe what you want - examples: "make the sky more blue", "remove the person on the left", "brighten the whole image", "change the car to red". Step 5: As you speak, your words appear on screen. When you pause, the AI automatically applies the edit. Step 6: Keep speaking to make more edits - no need to stop and click buttons. Step 7: Click "Stop Recording" when done. It's hands-free editing - like having an AI assistant who listens and edits while you describe your vision! Note: Each voice command edit costs 10 credits, same as regular edits.
What can I say in Artist Mode?
Speak naturally like you're talking to a person: "make the background darker", "remove all the people", "change the sky to sunset colors", "make everything more vibrant", "remove the text in the corner", "brighten the subject". The AI understands natural language - just describe what you want to happen.
Do I need to paint or draw anything in Artist Mode?
No! Despite the name, you don't paint anything. You just speak and the AI edits. The "Artist" part refers to creative freedom - you describe your artistic vision and the AI makes it happen. Think of it as "Voice Command Mode" for hands-free editing.
Can I generate multiple variations at once?
Yes! When generating images, you can select "Generate 4 Images" to create 4 different variations with a single prompt. This costs 448 credits total, 112 per image on the default model. Perfect for exploring different creative options quickly.
What image formats are supported?
We support JPG, PNG, WebP, and most common image formats up to 10MB.
Can I download my edited images?
Yes! Once your image is edited, you can download it directly to your device. All edits are yours to keep and use however you want.
Can I turn images into videos?
Yes. Upload your image, click the arrow next to "Generate Image" and pick "Generate Video", then describe the camera movement you want, like "slow zoom in" or "pan left to right". You get back a 5-second clip and you can download it as an MP4.
How do I create a video from my image? (Step-by-step for beginners)
Step 1: Upload your image. Step 2: Enter a prompt describing your image, or leave it blank. Step 3: Click the arrow next to the "Generate Image" button. Step 4: Select "Generate Video". Step 5: Describe how the camera should move. Be specific: "slowly zoom into the center", "pan from left side to right side", "zoom out to show the full scene", "gentle tilt upward from bottom to top". Step 6: Click "Generate Video". Step 7: Wait while the model works, usually under two minutes. Step 8: Your video appears in the result panel, and the download button saves it as an MP4.
What camera movements can I create? (Examples for beginners)
Think of it like directing a camera. Here are common movements: ZOOM - "slow zoom in toward the subject", "zoom out to reveal more". PAN - "pan left to right smoothly", "pan across the scene". TILT - "tilt up from ground to sky", "tilt down dramatically". ROTATE - "rotate clockwise around the center", "gentle counterclockwise rotation". COMBINED - "zoom in while panning right", "orbit around the product". The AI understands natural descriptions - just say how you want the camera to move!
What kind of videos can I create?
You can animate any image with camera movements like zooms, pans and tilts, or write a prompt with no image at all and let the model build the shot. Clips are 5 seconds long, at 480p or 720p depending on the model you pick, and some models add sound.
How much does video generation cost?
The cheapest clip is Veo 3.1 Lite at 200 credits for 4 seconds, about 20 cents. Models that run at 720p or add sound cost more, up to about 2,000 credits for 5 seconds of the best one. The model picker shows the price of each.
Reels Studio
What is the Reels Studio?
It turns a sentence into a short animated video for social media, ads and presentations. You describe what you want to show ("Travel deal for the Amalfi Coast with beach photos and a price badge"), and Bildy designs the pages, picks the photos, animates everything and gives you an MP4 or GIF to download. You never touch code or a timeline.
How do I make my first animation? (Step-by-step)
Step 1: Open Reels Studio and type what the animation should show. The more concrete you are about the product, the headline and the mood, the better the result: mention the offer, the price, the palette and what the last screen should say. Step 2: Pick a shape - portrait for Reels, TikTok and Stories, square for feed posts, landscape for websites and presentations. Step 3: Click Create. The design builds in front of you, page by page, and starts playing on a loop when it is done. Step 4: Click any page in the strip at the bottom to work on it on its own. Step 5: When you are happy, download it as MP4 or GIF.
What are pages, and why is my animation split into them?
A page is one screen of your story, like a slide: the hook, the offer, the proof, the end card. Splitting the animation that way means you can rebuild, retime or restyle one screen without touching the rest. The strip along the bottom shows every page; click one to select it, click it again (or click Play) to go back to the whole animation. Use "+ Page" to add a screen and describe what belongs on it.
How do I change the text on a page?
Select the page, click "Edit content", then click the words on the animation itself. A small box opens where you type the new text, and Enter applies it. Numbers that count up work the same way: click the number and type the value it should end on. Click Done to save and resume playing, or Cancel to drop everything you changed since entering edit mode.
Can I move things around on a page?
Yes. In edit mode, drag any headline, photo, badge or button to a new spot - the whole element moves together with its background shape. After dragging, the arrow keys nudge that same element one pixel at a time, or ten pixels with Shift held down, for exact positioning. Moving something never changes how it animates in and out.
How do I change the photos?
In edit mode, click the photo you want to replace. A picker opens showing several matching options; type a different search ("Positano cliffs at sunset") to see other results, click the one you like, and it is pinned to that spot. You can also add your own: drop a photo into the "Ask AI to change" box in the sidebar to use it with your next request, or onto the start screen before you create anything. The stock photos come from free, openly licensed libraries, so they are safe to post.
Can I change the layout of a page?
Yes. With a page selected, open the Layout section and pick a different design: full-screen photo, split screen, phone mockup, photo grid, big statement, counting statistic, feature list, quote, chat conversation, checklist, end card and more. The page is rebuilt in the new layout with your existing text and photos. "Let the AI choose a design" hands the decision back to Bildy.
How do I turn off the confetti (or any other effect)?
Select the page and open the Effects section. Everything decorative on that page is listed there - confetti bursts, glows, moving backgrounds and any custom effect the AI invented for you - each with its own switch. Turning one off changes only that page, so a celebration on the last screen can stay while an earlier one is calmed down.
Something looks wrong. Can I ask for changes instead of editing by hand?
Yes, and it is usually faster. With no page selected, the box at the bottom left changes the whole animation ("warmer palette and a snappier pace"). With a page selected it changes only that page ("bigger headline, show the photo full screen"). You can drop an image into that box too, to say "use this photo here". Only the parts that need to change are rebuilt, so the rest of your design stays exactly as it was.
I preferred the previous version of a page. Can I get it back?
Yes. Each page keeps its own history. Select the page and click the versions button above the preview to see thumbnails of its earlier designs, then click one to restore it. Version numbers stay stable, so you can switch back and forth while comparing. For changes to the whole animation, the undo and redo arrows do the same job.
How fast do the animations run?
Bildy paces each page at roughly one second per element on it, so a page with a headline, a photo and three bullets runs longer than a title card. You can set the duration of the selected page yourself in the sidebar, and the total length is shown next to the download buttons.
Can I add a voice-over?
Yes. When you download an MP4, Bildy offers to narrate it. It reads the text already on your pages, timed so each line is spoken while its page is on screen, and mixes the voice into the video file. Narration costs 10 credits and can be skipped if you would rather add music later.
What can I download, and where can I post it?
MP4 for anywhere video is accepted (Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube Shorts, ads, presentations) and GIF for email, chat and websites where video is awkward. Portrait is 720x1280, square 1080x1080 and landscape 1280x720. The animation loops cleanly, so it looks right when a platform replays it.
Are my designs saved?
Yes. Every design saves itself as you work and syncs to your account, so you can pick it up on another device. They are listed on the Reels Studio home screen with a preview of each. The example design on that screen is there to explore: opening it hands you your own copy to change however you like.
How much does it cost?
Creating an animation or rebuilding a page costs 85 credits each. A voice-over costs 10 credits per page, and each page is kept on your device, so exporting the same animation again is free. Turning a song into a starting point costs 85 credits. Editing text, moving elements, swapping photos, changing colors and fonts, retiming pages, changing transitions and downloading are free and unlimited.
Game of Prompts
What is Game of Prompts?
It is a game you play with other people, where everyone gets the same challenge and a few minutes to make a picture for it. Challenges have names like "The Final Boss of an Ordinary Job", "Food from the Future" and "Your Name as an Album Cover". When the round ends everyone sees the pictures one player at a time, then votes for a favourite. A game has 5 rounds.
How do I start a game?
Open Game of Prompts and pick how you want to play. You can join a public game with strangers, host a private room and share the join code, or play on one account when everyone is in the same room with you. Up to 12 people can play in one room.
How do I play on one account with friends in the same room?
Sign in on every device with the same account and open Game of Prompts. Whoever opens it first is the host, and everyone else sees a join button and a field for the player name. Everyone plays under their own name, and we take the credits from the one account.
How long is a round?
A round is five minutes by default. The host can add a minute while a round is running, and can also end the round early once everyone has entered something.
Do the other players see my name when they vote?
That is up to the host. When the host starts a round they can choose to show player names during the reveal and the vote. Names are hidden by default, so entries show as "Entry 1", "Entry 2" and so on, and the results screen at the end always shows who made what.
What does a game cost?
Every picture you make in a round costs the same credits it would cost in the image editor, and you need enough on your account for a whole game, which is five pictures on the default model. We pay for game entries from your trial, subscription or purchased credits. The free daily credits do not cover them.
Can I enter a drawing or a video?
Yes. When you start a drawing on a blank canvas during a round, we enter it for you automatically, and you can take it out of your entries again. You can also enter a finished video clip, and it plays in the reveal and the vote like a picture.
What happens if I leave in the middle of a game?
Click Game of Prompts again and you go straight back to your seat while the game is still running. Your entries from earlier rounds are still there.
Stories
What are interactive stories?
They're AI-generated choose-your-own-adventure style stories where your choices affect the narrative. Each scene comes with a generated image that brings the story to life. Perfect for entertainment, creative inspiration, or exploring different story outcomes.
Do I create stories or play them?
You start a new story by describing the kind of story you want, like "a mystery in a haunted mansion" or "a space adventure". The model writes each scene from the choices you made in the ones before it, so two playthroughs of the same idea go different ways.
How long are the stories?
Stories can go on as long as you want! Each scene costs 85 credits and presents you with 4 choices. The story progresses forward based on your decisions, leading to different outcomes.
Can I save my progress?
Yes! Your story progress is automatically saved in your browser, so you can close the page and come back later to continue where you left off. You can also manually save stories to a file using the menu button.
Can I go back and choose a different path?
Stories progress forward based on your choices. If you want to explore different paths, you can start a new story or load a saved story file from an earlier point. You can view your full story history using "Story so far" in the menu.
What if I want to explore different outcomes?
Save your story at interesting decision points, then you can load that save file later to explore alternative paths from that moment. Each playthrough can lead to completely different adventures!
Notes
How does the AI Notes work?
Write or paste your text, then select any portion you want to improve. The AI instantly shows 5 alternative phrasings. Hover to preview, click to replace. It's like having a writing partner who gives you options without taking over. Each generation costs 10 credits, which is one cent.
What can I use the Notes for?
Perfect for headlines, marketing copy, blog posts, emails, product descriptions, website content, social media posts - anywhere you need clearer, stronger, or different phrasing. Great for beating writer's block or polishing rough drafts.
How many alternatives do I get?
Each generation gives you 5 different alternatives with varied approaches - different tones, lengths, and word choices. You can generate as many times as you need (10 credits per generation).
What does Ctrl+Click do?
Ctrl+Click on any alternative tells the AI "give me more like this one" - it generates variations of that specific approach. Great for fine-tuning when you like the direction but want to explore similar options.
Can I use custom prompts?
Yes! Below the alternatives panel, you can type specific instructions like "make it more casual", "shorten to 10 words", "add urgency", or "make it more professional" to guide the AI in a particular direction.
How much does it cost?
Each generation costs 10 credits, which is one cent. During the 7-day trial you can use your included allowance, and after that you can stay on subscription or buy credits directly.
Does it work with markdown?
Absolutely! The editor supports markdown formatting (bold, italic, headers, lists, links, code blocks, etc.) and shows a live preview. Perfect for blog writing, documentation, and content creation.
What's the character limit?
You can work with documents of any length, but selections for AI improvement are limited to 5000 characters per generation to ensure fast, quality results.
Is my writing private?
Yes! Your writing stays in your browser. Text is only sent to our AI when you generate alternatives, and nothing is permanently stored on our servers.
How do I add checkboxes in Notes?
There are three ways to add checkboxes: 1) Select the lines you want, then click the checkbox icon (☑) in the toolbar. 2) Type "/" at the start of a line to open the slash command menu and select "Checkbox List". 3) Use the floating toolbar that appears when you select text - it also has a checkbox button. Clicking on a checkbox toggles it between checked and unchecked. Checked items automatically get a strikethrough style.
What is the slash command menu?
Type "/" at the beginning of a line or after a space to open the slash command menu. It gives you quick access to formatting options: headings (H1, H2, H3), bullet list, numbered list, checkbox list, blockquote, horizontal divider, table, image, link, bold, and italic. Start typing after "/" to filter the list, use arrow keys to navigate, and press Enter or click to insert.
What formatting options are available in Notes?
Notes supports rich text formatting: Bold (Ctrl+B), Italic (Ctrl+I), Underline (Ctrl+U), Strikethrough, Headings (H1-H3), Bullet lists, Numbered lists, Checkbox/task lists, Blockquotes, Code blocks, Links, Tables, Horizontal dividers, and Images. You can access these via the toolbar, keyboard shortcuts, the slash command menu ("/"), or markdown shortcuts.
What keyboard shortcuts work in Notes?
The editor supports standard keyboard shortcuts: Ctrl+B (Bold), Ctrl+I (Italic), Ctrl+U (Underline), Ctrl+Z (Undo), Ctrl+Shift+Z or Ctrl+Y (Redo), Tab (Indent), Shift+Tab (Outdent). You can also use markdown-style shortcuts: type "# " for H1, "## " for H2, "### " for H3, "- " or "* " for bullet lists, "1. " for numbered lists, "> " for blockquotes, and "---" for a horizontal divider.
Can I save and organize multiple documents?
Yes! Notes saves documents automatically in your browser (IndexedDB). You can create multiple documents, give each one a title, and switch between them from the document list on the left. All documents are stored locally - nothing is uploaded unless you use the AI features.
How do I use the AI writing assistant?
Select any text in your document and click the sparkle/AI button or wait for the floating toolbar to appear. The AI generates 5 alternative phrasings. Hover to preview, click to replace. Use Ctrl+Click on an alternative to get more variations like that one. You can also type custom instructions in the prompt field below the alternatives. Each generation costs 10 credits, which is one cent.
Moody (Playlist Generator)
How does Moody work?
Describe your mood or the vibe you want (like "energetic morning workout" or "calm rainy day"), and Moody creates a personalized Spotify playlist that matches your energy. It uses AI to understand your mood, analyzes your listening history, and selects songs that fit perfectly.
Does Moody personalize playlists based on my music taste?
Yes! Moody analyzes your top artists, favorite genres, and recent listening habits to create playlists that match both your mood AND your personal music taste. It's like having a DJ who knows exactly what you like.
How long are the playlists?
By default, Moody creates 20-song playlists (about 60-90 minutes of music). This gives you enough variety without overwhelming you. Perfect for a workout, commute, or work session.
Do I need a Spotify account?
Yes, you need to connect your Spotify account to create and save playlists. The connection is secure and we only access what's needed to create playlists. Your playlists are saved directly to your Spotify account.
How much does it cost?
Creating a playlist costs 45 credits. The AI analyzes your mood description, your listening history, and curates a custom playlist just for you.
Credits & Pricing
How do credits work?
A 5 euro top-up gives you 5,000 credits, so 1,000 credits are one euro and you can read any price as money by moving the decimal point three places. Every plan and every bigger top-up gives you more credits per euro than that. Rough figures: a fast image is around 112 credits, a cheap one around 8, the best quality around 223. A second of video runs from 50 credits on the cheapest model to 400 on the best. Story scenes are 85 credits, Moody playlists 45, Notes alternatives 10. The exact number always shows before you spend it.
How does the free trial work?
Sign in and start the 7-day Stripe trial from the billing page. Your trial converts automatically into a subscription unless you cancel before it ends.
What happens after the 7-day trial ends?
Stripe converts the trial into the selected subscription automatically unless you cancel before the trial end date. Any purchased credits already on your account remain available as well.
How do I buy more credits?
Visit the Credits page to start or manage your subscription. If you already have purchased credits on your account, they remain available across devices while you are signed in.
Do credits expire?
Purchased credits never expire. Subscription credits refresh with each billing cycle while your subscription stays active.
Can I share credits across devices?
Yes. When signed in, your credits sync automatically across all your devices tied to the same account.
What if I run out of credits?
You can subscribe or start a free trial from the Credits page. Before any operation that requires credits, we'll tell you exactly how many credits it will cost so there are no surprises. Your trial includes 8,750 credits free for 7 days.
Can I get a refund if I'm not satisfied?
Since credits are consumed immediately when you use a tool, we generally cannot offer refunds. However, if you experience a technical issue that prevents you from using purchased credits, please contact support and we'll help resolve it.
Can I use generated content commercially?
Yes! Images, videos, and text you create with Bildy are yours to use however you want - including commercial projects, marketing materials, social media, and client work. You own the output.
What if a generation fails or produces poor results?
If a generation completely fails due to a technical error, credits are not consumed. If the result isn't what you expected but the generation completed successfully, you can try again with a different prompt. We recommend being specific and clear in your prompts for best results.
API & Developers
Does Bildy have an API?
Yes! Bildy offers a public REST API (v1) that lets you integrate AI-powered content generation, social marketing management, and document extraction into your own apps and workflows. Visit the API Docs page for full details.
How do I get an API key?
Sign in to Bildy, go to the API Docs page, and click Generate API Key. Your key starts with bld_ and is tied to your account. Keep it secret - treat it like a password.
What can I do with the API?
The API supports: AI Content Generation (research templates, refine content, and generate campaign-ready social posts), Campaign-first Social Management (manage templates, generate campaigns from existing templates, edit posts/campaigns, and schedule them), Document Extraction (upload documents, generate/refine schemas, extract structured data), and Lead/Competitor tools. Check the API Docs for all endpoints.
How does API billing work?
API calls consume credits from your Bildy account - the same credits you use in the browser. Each endpoint lists its credit cost: an image on the default model is 112 credits, and improving a piece of text is 10. CRUD operations (list, create, update, delete) are free. Schema generation and refinement are also free.
Is there a rate limit?
Yes, the API is rate-limited to 60 requests per minute per API key. If you hit the limit, you'll receive a 429 status code. Wait a moment and retry.
Can I use the API to build my own app or integrate with automation tools?
Absolutely! The API is designed for integration. Use it with n8n, Zapier, Make, custom scripts, or any tool that can make HTTP requests. The API Docs page includes curl examples and an AI agent integration guide to help you get started.
Does data created via the API show up in the Bildy UI?
Yes. Templates, campaigns, and campaign posts created through the API are stored in your account and sync to the Bildy browser interface. The current social workflow is campaign-first, so new posts are created through campaigns rather than as standalone items.
